House Breaking

The first thing you have to remember is that your new puppy is a baby and is going to have a few accidents.  However they these can be reduced by your diligence.

Puppies have little bladders and should be taken out about every two hours.  Puppies also need to be taken out after nap time, or play time, after they eat, and last but not least just before they go to bed.

Make sure you go outside with the pup and use one command like go potty or get busy.  Whatever you prefer.  As soon as the puppy goes potty give the puppy a lot of praise.  It shouldn't take to long before the pup gets the idea that hey this is where I'm supposed to go.

Some people use potty pads.  I don't like these becasue the dog gets the idea that its okay to go in the house as long as he/she goes in the same spot.  It's a little more work on your part in the begining to take your pup out consistantly, but it's like anything else you get back what you put into it!
